the writing’s on the wall.

Listen I know it’s been hard
You know it’s no different for me
We’re less than a zero-sum game now
And baby, we both know that’s not how it’s supposed to be

The writing’s on the wall
It seems like forever
Since we had a good day
The writing’s on the wall

But I, just want to get you high tonight
I just want to see some pleasure in your eyes
Some pleasure in your eyes

I go too high, and you go too cold
And we both fall apart
Then you bring your mind, to rest against mine
But the mind has no say on affairs of the heart

The writing’s on the wall
It seems like forever
Since we had a good day
The writing’s on the wall

But I, just want to get you high tonight
I just want to see some pleasure in your eyes
Some pleasure in your eyes

Then you bring your mind, to rest against mine
But the mind has no say on affairs of the heart

I, just want to get you high
Just want to get you high
Just want to get you high
Even if it’s the last thing we do together

Even if it’s the last thing we do together

Beautiful things are waiting to be found at 1am in the morning when sleep is elusive.

Here’s another gem of a song by Birdy:

You’ve been searching
Have you found many things?
Time for learning
Why have I not learnt a thing?

Words with no meaning
Have kept me dreaming
But they don’t tell me anything

All you never say is that you love me so
All I’ll never know is if you want me oh
If only I could look into your mind
Maybe then I’d find a sign
Of all I want to hear you say to me

Are you uncertain?
Or just scared to drop your guard?
Have you been broken?
Are you afraid to show your heart?

Life can be unkind
But only sometimes
You’re giving up before you start

All you never say is that you love me so
All I’ll never know is if you want me oh
If only I could look into your mind
Maybe then I’d find a sign
Of all I want to hear you say to me
To me

All you never say is that you love me so
All I’ll never know is if you want me oh
If only I could look into your mind
Maybe then I’d find a sign
Of all I want to hear you say to me
To me

if your heart was full of love, could you give it up?

How strange to have stumbled upon this haunting music video, part of the official soundtrack from the movie, The Fault In Our Stars, today, of all days.

It’s heartbreakingly beautiful to watch, and perfectly encapsulates the spirit of one of my favorite books…especially with all the quotes from the book being used as a backdrop.

We know full well there’s just time
So is it wrong to toss this line?
If your heart was full of love
Could you give it up?

‘Cause what about, what about angels?
They will come, they will go, make us special

Don’t give me up
Don’t give…
Me up

How unfair, it’s just our luck
Found something real that’s out of touch
But if you’d searched the whole wide world
Would you dare to let it go?

‘Cause what about, what about angels?
They will come, they will go, make us special

Don’t give me up
Don’t give…
Me up

‘Cause what about, what about angels?
They will come, they will go, make us special

It’s not about not about angels, angels

feels like home.

In the midst of a self-indulgent weekend:

Curled up in bed, watching soppy, romantic movies…

The Notebook – check.
Love Actually – check.
Sweet Home Alabama – check.
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days – check.

…while snacking on home-baked salted caramel chocolate chip cookies.

Mmm.

Am totally loving this song from the soundtrack of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days…the lyrics reminds me of how a good hug in the right pair of arms feels like:

Home…=)

Somethin’ in your eyes, makes me wanna lose myself
Makes me wanna lose myself, in your arms
There’s somethin’ in your voice, makes my heart beat fast
Hope this feeling lasts, the rest of my life

If you knew how lonely my life has been
And how long I’ve been so alone
And if you knew how I wanted someone to come along
And change my life the way you’ve done

It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I’m all the way back where I come from
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I’m all the way back where I belong

A window breaks, down a long, dark street
And a siren wails in the night
But I’m alright, ’cause I have you here with me
And I can almost see, through the dark there is light

Well, if you knew how much this moment means to me
And how long I’ve waited for your touch
And if you knew how happy you are making me
I never thought that I’d love anyone so much

It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I’m all the way the back where I come from
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I’m all the way back where I belong
It feels like I’m all the way back where I belong

i believe.

It’s been a while since I’ve had some ‘me’ time at the piano, but I finally got the chance today when the little one was engrossed in a new storybook (she has now claimed my old piano as her own, heh…and refuses to let me have more than 5 minutes on it!). I’m forever thankful for the solid foundation that I’ve gained from over 10 years under the Yamaha syllabus – being able to play a song that I’ve just heard on the airwaves without needing a music score is something that I’ve always taken for granted.

Today, I let myself get lost amongst my current and old favorites for a good hour, one of which is the theme song from My Sassy Girl – I Believe. In a very different place from when I recorded this video four years ago but it still remains as one of my favorite songs to play on the piano, partly because of its piognant melody.

Now if only I had space and money for that white baby grand…

During a senior managers’ offsite event a couple of months ago at work, one of the ice breaker games we played was for each of us to choose our favorite song on Spotify, and before it’s played out loud, everyone else was tasked to guess the genre and song based on their observation about the person’s personality, likes and dislikes.

I obviously did very badly, having always been terrible at reading people, on top of having a horrible memory of song titles and artists (give me the melody and I can identify the song but for the life of me, do not ask me who sang it).

As for myself, guesses regarding the genre of my favorite song ranged from boy bands to Chinese songs.

Seriously? Whatever image I’m portraying at work is definitely at odds with my inner persona because they were so far off it wasn’t funny.

The song I chose from the Spotify list is one amongst the list I’ve compiled below…yes, these days, my favorite songs come from the so-called jiwang Indonesian genre. Emo, I know. But really, I’m a hopeless romantic at heart. Most of these songs are permanently on rotation in my car, almost always played at full volume on rainy days during solo drives home, some of which I’ve repeated so many times that I almost know all the words by heart…

Terserah – Glenn Fredly

Akhir Cerita Cinta – Glenn Fredly

Jangan Memilih Aku – Anang & Syahrini

Kau Ilhamku – Man Bai

Sempurna – Andra and the Backbone

Mungkin Nanti – Peterpan

Januari – Glenn Fredly

google doodle rocks on.

Google’s Google Doodle has always been interesting and quirky, but today, I think they’ve outdone themselves with a playable replica of the Moog Synthesizer on the web.

Read about the back story of the doodle’s development here at Mashable and head on over to Google’s home page to play, record and share your tune with your friends! Here’s mine…I tried out a riff of ‘Axel F’, inspired by Wired (tho recording and playback seems a tad bit wonky).

Where Am I?
